According to reports, arrested Mumbai cop Sachin Vaze met Mansukh Hiran on February 17. It was the same day when the Thane businessman’s Mahindra Scorpio SUV was stolen.
Later, the car was found on the city’s Carmichael Road, near Mukesh Ambani’s residence. Not only this the car was laden with explosives and a threat letter was also found inside.
NIA and the Maharashtra ATS are probing three cases linked to the incident. Moreover, they have found CCTV footage of the two together on that day.
Furthermore, Mr Hiran was found dead on March 5. Following which his wife alleged the hand of Mr Vaze in his death.
Reports say that the policeman had borrowed the same SUV from Mr Hiran, till he returned it on February 5.
According to Mr Hiran he had parked his Scorpio on February 17 on the highway in the Vikhroli area of central Mumbai. There he had hired a taxi to reach Crawford Market in south Mumbai. The next day, he realised his SUV was stolen.
