Commemoration Day

New Delhi, October 21, 2024: In a heartfelt ceremony, Union Home Minister Amit Shah took a moment on Monday to pay tribute to the brave police personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting the nation. As India observed Police Commemoration Day, Shah highlighted the staggering number of over 216 officers who lost their lives in the line of duty over the past year.

Facing Modern Challenges

In his address, Shah acknowledged the emerging threats that the police force faces today, including the use of drones, narcotics, and even artificial intelligence being misused to disrupt peace. He warned against conspiracies aimed at provoking communal tensions, along with the persistent challenges of cybercrime, infiltration, arms smuggling, and terrorism. The message was clear: the fight for safety is more complex than ever!

Justice in Three Years?

On a hopeful note, Shah also mentioned the upcoming implementation of three criminal laws designed to expedite justice, aiming to resolve cases within three years of registration. It’s a tall order, but one that could change the landscape of law enforcement in India.

A Heartfelt Salute

Extending his deepest gratitude, Shah said, “This is an occasion that honors the infinite sacrifices made by our police personnel and their families to keep India safe.” He took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his respect, stating, “On the Police Commemoration Day, I bow to our martyrs immortalised by their supreme sacrifices in the line of duty.”
