The Army Day parade, which formerly took place in Delhi, will be moved outside of the national capital for the first time and held in Bengaluru at Parade Ground, MEG & Center.
The 75th Army Day will be the first of its type, taking place outside of Delhi for the first time since the celebrations began in 1949.
Every year on January 15, General (later Field Marshal) KM Carriappa took over command of the Indian Army from General Sir Francis Robert Roy Bucher, the final British Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, and became the country’s first army chief.
According to the Station Commander of the Southern Command, the parade would be held at several field commands throughout India to promote a stronger relationship with the society.
The celebrations this year are being supervised by the Southern Command, which is headquartered in Pune.
The Army Day parade used to be held at the Cariappa Parade Ground in the Delhi Cantonment prior to 2023.
Last year, the Indian Air Force shifted its annual Air Force Day fly-past and parade from Hindon air base near Delhi to Chandigarh.
General Manoj Pande of the Army Service Corps (ASC) Tornadoes will review the parade and present gallantry awards, which will be followed by a daring motorcycle performance by the ASC Tornadoes, a skydiving display by the Paratroopers, daredevil leaps, and an Army Aviation Corps fly over.
