Arun Lakhani is a prominent figure in the infrastructure and water management sector, serving as the Managing Director of Visvaraj Infrastructure Ltd and a key player behind Orange City Water Private Limited (OCW). His company has been instrumental in implementing Nagpur's ambitious 24x7 water supply project, which was recognized as a "National Best Practice through PPP mode" by the Ministry of Urban Development in 2013. This initiative was showcased as a model for urban water supply across India.

However, Lakhani's name was not without controversy in 2013. Opposition groups in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) raised allegations of undue influence and financial irregularities associated with OCW’s management of the city’s water supply. Congress corporator Praful Gudadhe openly criticized NMC officials, claiming they lacked the courage to take action against OCW despite alleged poor performance and a ₹26 crore scam highlighted by the state accountant general's report.
