A key witness of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) – Prabhakar Sail – in the Aryan Khan Cordelia cruise drugs case, died on Friday, April 1, news agency ANI has reported.
Prabhakar Sail died due to heart attack at his residence in Chembur’s Mahul area on April 1, his lawyer Tushar Khandare, who was representing him said.
Sail was in news after Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan was arrested in the Cordelia cruise drug case, for levelling extortion allegations.
On March 3, an SIT report on Aryan Khan drugs case pointed out there exists no evidence against Aryan Khan. The report could not find any link Aryan Khan and any of the international drugs syndicate.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had called this report a speculation, labelling it as highly premature, the anti-drugs agency denied such sweeping conclusions.
The report pertains to non-availability of evidence against Aryan Khan in the Mumbai cruise drugs case in October last year.
Sanjay Singh, Deputy Director General of NCB, denied the reports that an NCB probe had indicated that there was no evidence to prove that Aryan Khan was linked to an international drug syndicate.
Cordelia cruise drugs case
Aryan Khan was detained by NCB on October 2 last year during a raid at Cordelia Cruise yacht off Mumbai coast.
Khan and others were detained by the anti-drug agency on the accusation of drug conspiracy and consuming drugs.
Aryan Khan’s first bail was however dismissed by the trial court. But, later, Khan approached the Bombay High Court which granted him bail on October 28, 2021. Finally, Aryan Khan was freed from jail on October 30.
So far, the NCB has arrested 20 people, including two Nigerian nationals, in the drug-related case.
