Ashanya Dwivedi, Wife of Pahalgam Attack Victim, Slams BCCI Over India-Pakistan Match Approval

The recent decision by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to approve the India-Pakistan match in the Asia Cup 2025 has drawn sharp criticism from the family of a victim of the Pahalgam terror attack. Ashanya Dwivedi, the wife of Shubham Dwivedi, who lost his life in the tragic attack, expressed her anger and disappointment over BCCI’s stance.

In an interview with News-24, Ashanya shared her feelings, saying, "I will also boycott the India-Pakistan match. BCCI is hosting it, and it feels like a slap on our emotions. It's been just three months since the attack, and it seems like the nation, BCCI, or anyone has already forgotten the victims. How can they approve such a match when they should have been more considerate about our emotions?"

The Pahalgam attack, which occurred on April 22, 2025, saw five terrorists attacking 26 tourists in the Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. Most of the victims were Hindu, along with one Christian tourist and one local Muslim resident. The incident left many families in grief, including the Dwivedi family.

Ashanya's criticism highlights the emotional distress that victims’ families continue to face, especially when the country’s cricketing body appears to prioritize sporting events over the feelings of those affected by terrorism.

This incident has sparked a larger debate about the role of sports and national sentiment in the wake of national tragedies.
