Aurangabad: 8 Children Drown During Jitiya Ritual Bath, Grief Sweeps Through the Area

In Aurangabad, Bihar, two separate drowning incidents claimed the lives of 8 children. Five children drowned in Barun, while three others drowned in Madanpur. The district administration has sent the bodies for post-mortem at the hospital. This tragic event has raised concerns about water safety in the region.

Tragic Drowning Incident in Aurangabad During Jitiya Ritual, 8 Children Lose Their Lives

A devastating incident occurred on Wednesday in Aurangabad, Bihar, during the Jitiya festival, where 8 children tragically drowned while bathing in a pond. Another child was saved by locals. The tragedy took place in two separate locations, Barun and Madanpur, leaving the entire area in deep sorrow.

Incident Details

In Barun Block, five children from Ithhat village went to a pond to take a ritual bath as part of the Jitiya festival. Unfortunately, all of them slipped into the deep waters one after another. Despite the efforts of locals who jumped into the pond to save them after hearing the commotion, the children could not be rescued in time. The victims have been identified as the 9 and 11-year-old daughters of Gautam Singh, the 12-year-old daughter of Guddu Singh, and the 10-year-old daughter of Manoj Singh. One child, the 16-year-old daughter of Dheeraj Singh, was successfully saved.

In a similar incident in Madanpur, three children drowned while bathing in another pond. The victims have been identified as the 10-year-old son of Upendra Yadav, the 12-year-old daughter of Virendra Yadav, and the 13-year-old daughter of Yugal Kishore. Another child, the 13-year-old daughter of Jaipal Yadav, was rescued by villagers.

Authorities Respond

Upon learning of the incidents, the local administration rushed to the scene. The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem to Sadar Hospital under the supervision of District Magistrate Shrikant Shastri and SDM Santan Kumar Singh. SDM Singh assured the families that compensation would be provided swiftly as per government policies.

Grief and Mourning in the Villages

The tragic deaths of these children have cast a shadow of grief over both Barun and Madanpur villages. Families of the deceased are in deep mourning, struggling to cope with their loss. Police forces have been deployed in large numbers to maintain peace and provide support to the grieving families.
