Babita Phogat Reveals Shocking Payment for Amir Khan

In a surprising revelation, Babita Phogat has disclosed that her family received only Rs 1 crore for the movie Dangal, despite its massive worldwide gross collection of Rs 2070.3 crore. The 2016 blockbuster, starring Aamir Khan and based on the lives of wrestlers Babita and Geeta Phogat, was a huge success, but Babita claims her family was underpaid.

Massive Box Office Success vs. Minimal Compensation

Dangal was made on a budget of Rs 90 crore, including Rs 70 crore for production and Rs 20 crore for marketing. In India alone, it had a net collection of Rs 387.38 crore. Despite this, Babita Phogat revealed in an interview with News 24 that her family received only Rs 1 crore—less than 1% of the film’s earnings. She expressed disappointment over the payment but noted that her father, Mahavir Singh Phogat, emphasized that they wanted love and respect, not money.

Babita also mentioned that her father was adamant about keeping the real names of the characters in the movie, rejecting suggestions from Aamir Khan’s team to change them. Interestingly, Aamir Khan earned Rs 35 crore as a base salary for the film and made an additional Rs 375 crore through profit-sharing.
