Bahraich Latest News Update: High Court Stops Bulldozer Action Against Bahraich Violence Accused

The Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow bench has provided temporary relief to the accused in the Bahraich violence case by halting bulldozer action on their homes for 15 days. The court issued notices to 23 individuals involved in the case, demanding a response within the given timeframe. The next hearing is scheduled for Wednesday. The accused had filed a petition in the High Court, alleging that the Uttar Pradesh government was targeting them unfairly and bypassing Supreme Court orders. They argued that they were not given a chance to present their side before the demolition notices were issued. The violence occurred during the Durga idol immersion in Bahraich, where Ramgopal Mishra was kidnapped and shot dead. The police have already arrested several individuals in connection with the incident, and the PWD had issued notices to vacate 23 homes, claiming they were built on encroached government land.

Accused File Petitions in High Court and Supreme Court to Stop Demolition

The accused, including Abdul Hamid’s daughter Swaliha and two others, filed a petition in the High Court, stating that their homes were over 10 years old, with some properties even 70 years old. The petitioners also approached the Supreme Court, seeking similar relief. The PWD claimed that these homes were constructed illegally on land meant for public roads. The accused argued that they were not given sufficient time to respond to the notices. The PWD had marked 23 houses for demolition, citing that these constructions violated the rules as they were built without permission on land reserved for the Kundasar-Mahsi-Nanpara road.
