In a dramatic turn of events following the Bahraich violence, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided to make some significant changes in the police department. ASP (Rural) Pavit Mohan Tripathi has been removed from his position and will now be attached to the Police Headquarters. Stepping into his shoes is ASP Durga Prasad Tiwari, who has been assigned to Bahraich Rural.

A Shift in Responsibility

This move comes as part of ongoing efforts to address security lapses and hold responsible officials accountable. Pavit Mohan Tripathi, a native of Kanpur and a PPS 2000 batch officer, was promoted to ASP in 2005. Before his assignment in Bahraich, he served in Kasganj and Pilibhit. Sources indicate that more officials may face similar consequences in the near future.

The Ongoing Investigation

As for the violence case, five arrests have already been made. During a police encounter, two suspects sustained gunshot wounds to their legs. To further crack down on the perpetrators, the UP STF has been deployed. Recently, five suspects were apprehended near the Nepal border during an encounter.

Runaway Suspects

Among those arrested is the primary suspect, Mohammad Sarfaraz, who, along with his accomplices, was reportedly trying to flee to Nepal. Other arrested individuals include Mohammad Talim, Abdul Hamid, and Mohammad Fani. Notably, Sarfaraz and Talim were injured in the police encounter.
