Bangladesh Hindu Attacks: Congress Slams Modi Government, Calls for Action

Bangladesh Hindu Attacks: The recent spate of attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh has brought a scathing criticism of the Modi government by Congress leader Pramod Tiwari, who blames international weakness for the lack of action from the government. The recent political turmoil in Bangladesh saw the rise of attacks on Hindus, and it is the same scenario that Tiwari is now talking about, which has made him place all the blame on the Modi government. He believes that due to the failure of Indian diplomacy in the world arena, Bangladesh's Hindu community is suffering.

Tiwari was also strongly critical of Prime Minister Modi and urged him to take a lesson from the chapter of Indira Gandhi and be bold. He criticized the government for not doing anything when Hindu temples and idols are being broken and destroyed in Bangladesh. He said, "Those with a 56-inch chest claim not to care that our temples are being destroyed. They have lost the memory of 1971 and have forgotten what Indira Gandhi leadership was".

Bangladesh also rejected Bangladesh any systemic targeting of their minority groups. In a meeting of the United Nations on issues of minorities, the nation claimed that Chinmaya Krishna Das, Hindu leader arrested recently, was not arrested properly and there is nothing in the accusations leveled against him. Krishna Das was the former member of International Society for Krishna Consciousness. The court of Chattogram has declined his bail plea in connection with sedition charges against him. This has further fueled the current debate regarding the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh and the reactions of both countries towards these increasing tensions.
