Barauni Railway Incident: Wrong Signal Causes Shuntman's Death

Suleman had given the signal to the pilot indicating that everything was fine, although Amar was standing in front of the side buffer instead of being placed between the two engines.
The railway report, published after the accident, lists out all the events. On 9 November 2024, at 8:10 a.m. 15204 Train got into Line 06 at the platform of Barauni Station. The Station Master called Suleman and Amar Kumar and told them that he wants the engine separated from the rest of the train. Separating the engine number 22375 from the rest of the train compressed Amar in between the engine and the next railcar. CCTV camera caught Suleman giving gesture signals to the driver of the engine to take it forward and then backward a number of times. At 8:29 am., several people are running toward the engine. At 10:15 am., Amar is taken out from between the engine and the power car.

Based on its findings, the railway official concluded that due to improper coordination and the failure of proper communication between Suleman and Amar, there was a wrong signaling incident, which resulted in the accident. The direct signal error committed by Suleman killed Amar Kumar. Following the findings of the railway, Amar's family finally progressed towards approaching legal action against Suleman because his negligence, as well as likely bad intent, had led to the accident.
