Bengaluru: Woman Alleges ₹25 Lakh Bribe Demand, Humiliation by DSP in Suicide Note

In a shocking case from Bengaluru, a 33-year-old woman entrepreneur, S. Jeeva, alleged severe harassment by a senior police officer before her tragic death. Jeeva, who owned a timber business, was found dead at her home on November 22, leaving behind an 11-page suicide note accusing Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kanakalakshmi of demanding a ₹25 lakh bribe, humiliating her, and forcing her to undress during questioning.
The allegations are linked to an ongoing investigation into a scam involving Karnataka Bhovi Development Corporation, where Jeeva was a suspect. She claimed that CID officers pressured her to appear in person, disregarded her submitted documents, and continued to threaten her even at her workplace. The suicide note also accused the DSP of asking if she had brought cyanide during an interrogation.
Based on the suicide note, Jeeva’s sister filed a police complaint, leading to a case against DSP Kanakalakshmi. The incident has raised serious concerns about police misconduct, and an investigation is underway. Senior officials assured that all allegations will be thoroughly probed, emphasizing accountability in the justice process.
