Bihar Education Minister ‘doesn’t know national anthem’ [Video]

Published Date:

Patna: Bihar’s main opposition party the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has shared a video of the state’s newly-appointed Education Minister Mewalal Choudhary which shows him singing the national anthem. In the video, he can be heard struggling to get the lines of the national anthem during a flag-hoisting ceremony.

The RJD has criticised Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for appointing Choudhary as a minister in his cabinet as the latter faces allegations of corruption.

The undated video shows Choudhary botching up the lines of the national anthem and singing incorrect as he is surrounded by children in a school.

“Bihar Education Minister Mevalal Chaudhary, accused in several corruption cases, does not even know the national anthem. Nitish Kumar-ji, is there any shame left? Where did the conscience sink?” the RJD tweeted in Hindi.

In 2017, the JD-U had suspended Choudhary after a case was filed against him over alleged rregularities in appointments during his tenure as the Vice Chancellor of the Bihar Agriculture University in Bhagalpur district.

However, Choudhary rubbished such allegations as baseless.
