Bihar’s Historic Verdict

Patna. Bihar has become the first state in India to convict criminals under the new criminal laws (BNS). In a significant case, the court has sentenced two juvenile offenders to life imprisonment for a triple murder. This case, linked to a romantic dispute, involved the brutal murder of two minor girls and their father with a sharp weapon.

The crime was reported to the police on July 17 at 2 AM through Dial 112. The assailants, in the dead of night, mercilessly killed the father and his two daughters who were asleep on the roof of their house. The police swiftly arrested the perpetrators within an hour. The charge sheet was filed within 14 days, and the court ordered a speedy trial. On the 51st day, the court pronounced life imprisonment for the two juvenile offenders.

Saran’s Superintendent of Police, Dr. Kumar Ashish, detailed the complexities of the case. He noted that this day is historic for Bihar and Saran district. Dr. Ashish praised his team for their diligent efforts in expediting the investigation and ensuring justice. He stated, "Since the implementation of the new law, we have worked tirelessly to ensure a swift trial and deliver justice as quickly as possible."

Dr. Ashish, a 2012 batch Bihar cadre officer, has not only overseen this case but also contributed significantly to societal welfare. He initiated the Rail Police School in Muzaffarpur, which provides free education to abandoned children, a project launched on August 15 of the previous year.
