Delhi Metro Blue Line Hit by Cable Theft: Major Delays Expected

Delhi Metro Blue Line: A vital lifeline for commuters traveling between Dwarka and Vaishali/Noida, is currently facing significant delays after a cable theft incident. The theft occurred late last night between the Kirti Nagar and Moti Nagar stations, when metro services were no longer in operation. The stolen cables, which are integral to the metro’s smooth functioning, have caused a slow-down in the train speeds, leaving passengers to face an inconvenient journey today.

The DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) has issued a public advisory urging passengers to be prepared for longer waiting times, especially during peak hours. The Blue Line, one of the most heavily traveled metro routes in Delhi, is already expected to face more pressure as commuters scramble to reach their destinations on time.

While the authorities are working quickly to resolve the issue, this incident is reminiscent of another cable theft case that occurred in August on the Red Line, disrupting services between Dilshad Garden and Shahdara. The DMRC had to take similar measures back then, asking travelers to plan ahead as delays were anticipated due to the stolen signal cables.

The thefts have raised concerns about the security of Delhi Metro’s infrastructure. With an increasing number of thefts targeting the vital cables, there are calls for better protection measures and stricter actions against such criminal activities.

Despite these setbacks, the DMRC is confident that services will be restored soon. They have reassured passengers that this will be a temporary disruption, and additional measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future. For now, travelers are advised to remain patient and adjust their schedules accordingly to avoid further inconvenience.
