BPSC Candidates Announce Bihar Bandh on January 3 Over Demands, Accuse Commission of Allegations
BPSC aspirants have been protesting since December 13 demanding cancellation of the 70th preliminary examination that had taken place at the Bapu Examination Center in Patna, where irregularities were reportedly noticed. Though the examination has been rescheduled at the center on January 4, the candidates demand cancellation of the entire examination across Bihar as the commission has shown negligence.
Support from Leaders and Call for Bihar Bandh
MP Pappu Yadav, in unison with students, has supported the Bihar bandh on 3rd January and trains along highways will be stopped. In response, the deadline given to the government from Prashant Kishor to address concerns for candidates came out to be on 2nd January and there has still been no word after discussion between the Chief Secretary.
Tension Turns Hot Again with Police Intervention
Tensions escalate as Patna police stage lathi charge on protesting students in Gandhi Maidan on Sunday. More than several students injured; an FIR filed against 21 persons with names and 600 persons who are unknown.
Prashant Kishor hit for allegedly fleeing the protest before the onset of the lathi charge.
Demands and Threats of Disruption
Candidates have threatened not to let the January 4 rescheduled examination happen if their demands are not fulfilled. Protests, led by several political leaders, have continued to grow in intensity as students demand justice and accountability from BPSC.
