Building Dreams or Breaking Budgets Soaring Construction Costs Hit Home Builders in Uttar Pradesh

Homebuilders in Uttar Pradesh are facing significant challenges as rising costs for essential construction materials, including cement, sand, and iron, strain their budgets. The ongoing inflation has led to substantial price hikes, particularly in bricks and cement, causing concern among those looking to construct their homes.

Price Surge in Cement and Sand

Various brands of cement have seen increased prices, attributed to the halt in mining activities in rivers, which has also caused sand, Badarpur, and dust prices to rise. Currently, bricks are priced approximately ₹1,000 more per thousand compared to previous rates.

Fluctuations in Rebar Prices

Prices for rebar are experiencing fluctuations as well, with increases of up to ₹10 per kilogram. Sand prices have surged by ₹10 per cubic foot, while Badarpur's rates have risen by ₹8.

Impact on Sales

The increasing prices of construction materials are also affecting sales. "Increases have been noted in the prices of bricks, Badarpur, and cement," said Vipin Goyal, a businessman. Anil Pal, a prospective homeowner, expressed frustration, stating, "Building a home is becoming increasingly difficult due to the soaring prices of all materials. We initially bought rebar, but now it's become too expensive, disrupting our budget and forcing us to limit our projects."

The rising costs of construction materials are making it increasingly challenging for individuals to build their homes in Uttar Pradesh. This inflation crisis highlights the urgent need for the government and relevant departments to address these issues, providing relief to the common public in their pursuit of homeownership.
