The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced byelections to seven assembly seats across six states. These will be held on November 3.
Results for the same will be declared on November 6. The byelections on the seven seats will be held across Maharashtra, Bihar, Odisha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
However, the Gazette notification will be issued on October 7. The model code of conduct will also come into effect immediately, as per the ECI.
The deadline for filing nominations is October 14. The scrutiny of these nominations will be conducted on October 15. While the last date for withdrawal of candidature is October 17. Also, votes will be counted on November 6.
As per ECI, Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) will be used for the byelections. The ECI is responsible for ensuring the polls are conducted smoothly with the help of EVMs.
The Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) or Voter ID will be the primary document for the identity verification of the voters.
Other identification documents like Aadhar Card, PAN Card and Driving License will also be accepted.
