Chandan Gupta Murder Case: 28 Convicted in Kasganj Violence, Life Sentence Announced
In a landmark judgment, the NIA court in Lucknow has awarded life imprisonment to all 28 accused in the Kasganj violence case. The incident was of stone pelting and firing during a Tricolor rally in Uttar Pradesh's Kasganj, which had resulted in the death of Chandan Gupta. The police had initially filed cases against 30 people, but two were acquitted due to lack of evidence, and one accused had passed away during the trial.
Details of the Verdict
Public Prosecutor mentioned that the case was concluded before the court on Thursday and found all 28 accused guilty. On Friday, the court had sentenced all convicted persons to imprisonment for life. Among the convicted persons, there are 26 lodged in Lucknow Jail; however, the other two Munnazir, who was lodged in Kasganj Jail, and Salim, who surrendered recently were sentenced through video conferencing.
