9 Naxalites Killed in Chhattisgarh

In a significant operation conducted in Chhattisgarh, security forces have killed nine Naxalites along the border between Dantewada and Bijapur districts. The operation, which targeted a group of approximately 40 Naxalites in the region, also led to the seizure of substantial weaponry and ammunition.

The operation took place in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh, with the security forces encountering heavy resistance from the Naxalites. Inspector General of Police Sundar Raj P reported that the gunfight began at around 10:30 a.m. and involved coordinated efforts from multiple security units, including the District Reserve Guard and Central Reserve Police Force.

According to Raj, precise intelligence about Naxalite movements led to the successful operation. The forces recovered automatic rifles, SLR rifles, 303 rifles, and 315 bore rifles from the slain Naxalites. Notably, all nine Naxalites were wearing PLGA (People's Liberation Guerrilla Army) uniforms, indicating their affiliation with the group.

The security forces were engaged in a fierce battle with the Naxalites, who were also actively attacking. Despite the heavy exchange of fire, the forces managed to eliminate all nine insurgents. The search for additional explosives in the area continues, as past incidents have seen Naxalites using IEDs that have harmed civilians, wildlife, and security personnel.

The operation is the second in the Bastar region following an August 29 incident where three female Naxalites were killed. District Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rai confirmed that all participating security personnel were safe and unharmed.
