CJI Sanjiv Khanna: Justice Manmohan Nominated for Supreme Court Appointment by Collegium
CJI Sanjiv Khanna The collegium of the Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna, has recommended Delhi High Court's Chief Justice Manmohan for elevation to the apex court. The five-member collegium recently met and decided unanimously to send forward Justice Manmohan's name for appointment as a judge of the Supreme Court.
Along with CJI Khanna, Justices BR Gavai, Surya Kant, Hrishikesh Roy, and AS Oka are the members of the panel who will make recommendations to the higher judiciary for judges.
The sanctioned strength of the Supreme Court is 34 judges including the CJI. Currently, the Supreme Court is functioning with 32 judges. The nomination of Justice Manmohan will fill one of the vacancies and enhance the judicial strength of the court.
