CM Yogi Distributes Cards to Beneficiaries, 9 Crore People to Benefit from UP’s Health Scheme
On Monday, December 9, a card distribution ceremony for the Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana was held at Mahant Digvijaynath Park in Gorakhpur. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath distributed cards to 25 beneficiaries, marking a significant step in providing healthcare benefits to senior citizens in the state.
During his address, CM Yogi claimed that the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, launched in September 2018 as the world's largest health insurance scheme, has become a huge success. He said thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support while implementing this initiative. The beneficiaries do not have to pay a single penny for the treatment, according to CM Yogi. The scheme provides up to ₹5 lakh for medical expenses, renewable annually, and is available at over 380 hospitals in Gorakhpur, including 190 government hospitals.
The scheme specifically focuses on the elderly, free health cover is being provided for above 70 years of age, and as announced by CM Yogi over 8,300 have already been enrolled, and with the 9 crore people in Uttar Pradesh, the amount that each would get up to ₹5 lakh every year will be availed for medical treatment. Also, there is a discussion on how Ayushman cards are distributed in 65 medical colleges which have been made to help in proper access to health care facilities.
The scheme has already benefited 5,433 people in Gorakhpur, and ₹123 crore has been distributed for their medical treatments. Apart from the Ayushman Bharat scheme, CM Yogi mentioned other government initiatives like the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana and the Deendayal Upchar Yojana, which aim to strengthen healthcare services in the state.
CM Yogi also highlighted the fact that major strides have been taken to upgrade health infrastructure in the state. In this regard, 65 new medical colleges have been established in 75 districts. This is a great improvement over the five medical colleges built in the last 70 years. CM Yogi reaffirmed the commitment of the government towards a healthier and stronger India with accessible healthcare for all.
