Congress Slams Mamata Banerjee Over INDIA Alliance Leadership Bid

Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit has launched a strong attack on Mamata Banerjee, claiming that the West Bengal Chief Minister is acting as an agent of the BJP. This comes after Banerjee expressed her desire to lead the INDIA alliance. Dikshit asserted that senior leaders, not Banerjee, would decide the leadership of the alliance.

Dikshit also criticized Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, holding him responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation in the capital. He accused Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of ruining the city's infrastructure and safety, including its air quality and road conditions. Dikshit pointed out that despite Kejriwal's promise to improve law and order, the situation remains grim, and even the CCTV cameras set up by his government have failed to address rising crime.

Regarding Mamata Banerjee's role in the INDIA alliance, Dikshit questioned why she hasn't raised important issues or engaged in grassroots struggles. He suggested that Banerjee’s reluctance to take a firm stand on critical issues proves her allegiance to the BJP. Dikshit’s statements have fueled ongoing tensions within the opposition, especially regarding leadership in the INDIA bloc.

Mamata Banerjee had earlier stated in an interview that she was open to leading the INDIA alliance if given the opportunity, but she emphasized that the alliance's leadership should be based on collective responsibility. However, she made it clear that she did not wish to leave Bengal and could manage the alliance from her home state.
