COVID-19: Allahabad HC orders UP govt to impose lockdown in 5 UP Cities

Uttar Pradesh government Monday refused Allahabad High Court directions for lockdown in five of its cities.

In view of the surging daily COVID-19 cases in UP, the Allahabad HC has asked the government to go for lockdown in Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Kanpur, Gorakhpur – from tonight till April 26.

The court, in a series of orders, asked for suspension and closure of all religious activities and establishments, and the closure of all shopping malls.

The court also ordered to shut all education institutions across UP. UP and Maharashtra remain one of the most affected states by the second wave of COVID-19 in India.
