CSJMU Hosts First Filmmaking Workshop; Best Short Film to Be Awarded

Kanpur – Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU) in Kanpur has announced its first-ever three-day filmmaking workshop for journalism and mass communication students. The event is a collaborative initiative between the university's Journalism and Mass Communication Department and Rangshila Productions, Mumbai.
The workshop will begin with an inaugural ceremony at the Tatya Tope Senate Hall. Students from both the university campus and affiliated colleges will be trained in essential aspects of filmmaking, including scriptwriting, direction, and editing.
24-Hour Filmmaking Challenge for Students
As part of the hands-on learning approach, participants will be given a special task to create a short film within 24 hours. After submission, all entries will be screened, and the best short film will be honored with an award. This competition will allow students to apply their learning in a real-world scenario.

Vice-Chancellor Emphasizes Holistic Learning
Professor Vinay Kumar Pathak, Vice-Chancellor of CSJMU, highlighted that storytelling is no longer limited to literature. He said, “Stories today come alive through cameras, screens, and editing. This workshop will give students both technical knowledge and valuable teamwork and practical experience.”
He also added that CSJMU continues to promote innovation and holistic development among its students, and the launch of this filmmaking workshop is a step forward in that direction.
