Cyclone Tauktae shows a weakening trend now: IMD

As per IMD update on Tuesday morning, Cyclone Tauktae is continuing to show a weakening trend after wreacking havoc in Maharashtra and Gujarat.

The armed forces have also mobilised men and assets in preparation for Cyclone Tauktae.

Since Gujarat remains a critical supplier of oxygen, efforts are on to ensure its routes are kept open.

The maximum impact is likely to be in Saurashtra. Followed by the UT Diu. Three naval ships namely Talwar, Tarkash and Tabar are on standby for help.

The other ships on the Western seaboard are also on standby for assistance.

Moreover, the Navy has also launched multiple search and rescue operations in response to SOS calls from ships.

The cyclone Tauktae has already left a trail of destruction with damage to structures, electricity lines, and uprooted trees. The devastating winds reached speeds up to 190 kilometres per hour as the storm made landfall in Gujarat.
