In the same year, he also won five gold medals at Asian Youth Chess Championship. Following his victory at the 34th Open De Capelle La Grande Chess Tournament in France in March 2018, Gukesh became the youngest-ever International Grandmaster in India. In 2019, he was the youngest Grandmaster in the world.
