Delhi Assembly Elections 2025: AAP Releases Second Candidate List, Manish Sisodia Gets New Seat
Delhi Assembly Elections 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today released its second list of candidates for the Delhi Assembly election, scheduled to take place in February 2025. As many as 20 candidates have been named in this list, with some interesting changes in key constituencies. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has been shifted from his bastion Patparganj constituency, to contest from Jangpura. Meanwhile, teacher-turned AAP member Avadh Ojha has been fielded from Patparganj.
Other notable names in the list are Rakhi Bidlan, whose constituency has also been changed, and Padmashree Jitender Singh Shunty, who will contest from Shahdara. Many of the candidates in this list are new to AAP, most of whom have come from other parties like Congress and BJP. The party has chosen fresh faces along with the experienced leaders, giving a strategic mix of candidates.
This is the second list declared after an initial one in November that had 11 candidates. AAP strategy seems to be to strengthen its hold on the capital since it has performed well here in both 2015 and 2020, when it won 67 and 62 seats, respectively. With preparations in full swing under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, AAP looks to carry forward its electoral success in the polls.
