Delhi Covid tally shows a downward trend, govt cautions against lowering guards

Delhi showed a continuous downward trend on Monday reported 12,527 fresh Covid-19 cases. With 24 Covid deaths on Monday, it takes January’s total toll to 280.

This decline in the Covid tally can be attributed to the fewer tests conducted on Sunday.

Also, the number of tests conducted has been reducing in Delhi since the new ICMR testing guidelines were introduced.

As less as 44,762 tests were conducted on Monday, the lowest since November 29 when 43,499 tests were conducted.

Moreover, the highest number of RT-PCR tests ever conducted in Delhi was on January 12.

Now that the cases are reducing significantly, it can also be said that hospitalisations were not going up.

The cases in Delhi have also fallen consistently since hitting a peak of 28,867 on January 13.

The Covid positivity rate in Delhi however, remained at 27.99 per cent.

Moreover, Delhi State Health Bulletin also informed that 18340 people had recovered from Covid-19 and had been discharged from hospitals.

Delhi’s Health Minister Satyendra Jain also informed that authorities in the national capital have administered the first dose of vaccine to all the eligible population.

And so far, Delhi has administered 2.85 crore doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, of which 80 per cent have been fully vaccinated.
