Delhi Elections: Kejriwal Promises ₹1 Lakh for Auto Drivers' Daughters’ Weddings
Delhi Elections: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has announced a series of welfare measures ahead of the Delhi elections, which are targeting auto drivers. To attract their support, Kejriwal promised that all auto drivers will receive a life insurance of ₹10 lakh and health insurance of ₹5 lakh, while if any auto driver's daughter gets married, he or she will be provided with ₹1 lakh for the wedding expenditure.
Addressing the press, Kejriwal recalled his long relationship with auto drivers, saying that in 2013 when his party was just budding and Congress was in power in Delhi, auto drivers were treated unfairly most of the times. He had talked for them back then too. They are victims of the system, and he said that when their government came into power, he and his team worked to sort out the issue.
Kejriwal also shared an emotional experience from a recent meeting with auto drivers, where they invited him to their homes and treated him with warmth. He concluded by stating, "I can proudly say that I’ve eaten the salt of auto drivers." With these promises, Kejriwal aims to strengthen his political bond with the auto community, crucial in Delhi’s upcoming elections.
