Delhi Farmers March Postponed: Pandher Announces Meeting to Decide Next Move

Delhi Farmers March Postponed: 101 farmers set out on Sunday afternoon from the protest site at Shambhu Border, but police at various barricades prevented them from marching to Delhi. Earlier, security personnel greeted protesters with flowers and water. However, the situation deteriorated when tear gas and water cannons were used against the farmers. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher later announced that the march was suspended, and a meeting would be held to decide the next course of action.

The farmers have accused police of repeatedly firing tear gas shells at them, injuring at least five protesters. This comes after an earlier similar incident on Friday in which the Delhi march was stopped by force and saw 16 farmers get hurt.

Tensions continue to rise in Shambhu Border with farmers remaining stationed there while planning their next moves. Many protesters have donned protective gear while others used jute bags to protect themselves from the tear gas. One injured farmer was hospitalized.

Pandher said that their protest, now on its 300th day, under the banners of Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, continues to demand a resolution. The farmers have been camped at Shambhu and Khanauri borders since February 13 after previous attempts to march to Delhi were blocked by authorities. Pandher confirmed that the leadership would decide on the next moves after consulting with the farmers.
