Delhi govt may extend COVID-19 lockdown for one more week

Delhi government may extend COVID-19 induced lockdown for one more week, according to the sources. This comes as a result of the vaccine shortage and a high number of deaths in the national capital.

“The ongoing second wave has been very fatal and there are little chances that lockdown will be relaxed. Another weeklong extension will likely be announced by the government,” the sources said.

Also, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on May 22, 2021, indicated that the government is thinking to extend lockdown by one more week, saying that the coronavirus threat has not been averted.

“Around 2,200 cases were reported in last 24 hours and positively rate too decreased to 3.5% but this doesn’t mean the virus threat has been averted,” the Chief Minister said. He also added that it is important to take all steps to safeguard against the virus.

“We have to take all steps to safeguard against the virus,” he said.
