Delhi High Court: Mask is compulsory even if you are alone in car

Wearing a mask is mandatory even if a person is alone in the car, Delhi High court said on April 7, 2021. The court also termed all vehicles a place where one must follow all COVID-19 safety rules.

Hearing a petition against a fine for not wearing a mask while driving, Judge Pratibha M Singh pronounced the court’s decision and said that the mask is a safety armor for a person.

“Even if you are alone in the car, why object to wearing a mask? It is for your own safety,” the judge said.

“The pandemic crisis has increased. Whether a person is vaccinated or not, they should wear masks,” the judge added.

“The coronavirus is so contagious that even in that time, anyone can be infected,” the judge said.

Lawyer Saurabh Sharma and two others filed the petition against a fine while driving in the car. Notably, layer Saurabh Sharma was forced by Delhi Police to pay an Rs. 500 fine when he was driving alone without a mask.
