Delhi NCR Weather: Light Rain Causes Temperature Drop to 12°C, Yellow Alert Issued

Delhi NCR Weather: The weather department’s forecast proved accurate as light rain hit Delhi-NCR early in the morning, leading to increased humidity and dense fog. This caused the air quality to drop to a very poor category. The changing weather is affecting the entire country, and in North India, the winter chill has turned into rainfall, causing discomfort for many. In Delhi-NCR, the minimum temperature dropped to 12°C due to the rain.

Impact of the Rain on Delhi-NCR

The air quality in Delhi-NCR was already poor, and now, with the rain, the humidity and fog have worsened the situation. Delhi has the highest pollution levels in the country, and the added moisture and fog from the rain are creating additional challenges. As the rain continues, the temperature is expected to drop further, making the cold more intense.

This morning, several areas in Delhi-NCR experienced light rain, including Gurugram, where heavy rain was reported. The rain has caused the temperature to fall further, and the minimum temperature in Delhi reached 12°C. Earlier this week, Delhi-NCR also saw light rain, and today, the weather department has issued a yellow alert for fog for the next three days.

Weather Forecast and Yellow Alert

The weather department has issued a yellow alert for the next three days, predicting light to moderate rain and fog. The active western disturbance is expected to cause cloudy skies, with light to moderate rain and fog likely to persist on Friday and Saturday. Winds of 30-40 km/h with thunderstorm activity are expected. The maximum temperature is forecast to be 20°C, and the minimum temperature around 11°C.

Dense Fog and Poor Visibility

On Thursday morning, dense fog reduced visibility to just 100 meters near Safdarjung between 7:30 and 8:00 AM. At IGI Airport, moderate fog reduced visibility to 300 meters during the same time, which later improved to 400 meters after 8:00 AM.

Air Quality in Delhi-NCR

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s air quality index was reported at 345, falling under the ‘very poor’ category. The Swiss company IQAir also reported an air index of 259. Air quality in major cities of NCR remained in the ‘poor’ category, with smog and dense fog affecting visibility and air quality. This is causing difficulties for residents in Delhi, and it is expected to continue for the next few days.
