Delhi Police apprehends human trafficker in 2,500-km long chase from Hyderabad to Delhi: All that you need to know

In a major breakthrough, the Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested notorious human trafficker Kamran Haider alias Zaidi after relentless 2,500km chase. Zaidi who had been on the run for months was finally picked up in Hyderabad on 7 December. The arrest followed a nationwide effort put in by Delhi Police and the National Investigation Agency who had announced a Rs 2 lakh reward on information leading to his capture.

Zaidi has been charged with operating an illegal human trafficking ring, focusing on vulnerable Indian youths. The victims were promised well-paying jobs overseas by the false consultancy called Ali International Services. The passports were seized from the victims after arrival in Thailand and forced into the Chinese company doing cyber fraud against the citizens of European and America.

It first emerged in May 2024, when Naresh Lakhavath, one of the victims, reported his ordeal to the New Friends Colony Police Station. Lakhavath was sent to Thailand on the pretext of a job offer, where he became a victim of a scam operation. This led to the NIA getting involved, identifying a network of conspirators who included Zaidi, Manjoor Alam, Sahil, Ashish, and Pawan Yadav.

The mastermind of the operation, Zaidi, had gone underground after the case was handed over to the NIA. He was changing his location from one place to another with a motive to avoid detection and was trying to move abroad to Thailand and then Laos. He kept running around for months due to his avoidance, but Delhi Police kept moving forward with teams across several states like Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh in their search for him.

Finally, after a long operation, Zaidi was traced in Hyderabad, Telangana. Delhi Police teams chased him without any halt for more than 2,500 kilometers. The trafficker was caught near Nampally Railway Station in Hyderabad when he was trying to reach another hideout.

It is a significant victory for the Delhi Police and NIA in their continuing battle against human trafficking and cyber fraud cases. The responsible authorities still investigate the large network of traffickers and scammers involved in this operation.
