I Didn’t Embezzle ₹2.5 Crore’; Bulandshahr Postmaster Jumps in Front of Train, Body Found on Tracks
A shocking incident has come in from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, in which a 28-year-old sub-postmaster, Rahul, jumped in front of the train and killed himself. It is said that Rahul used fake postal stamps to embezzle ₹2.5 crore. He was called for questioning by the CBI on Friday and his suspension along with the allegations did push him to take the extreme step. His body was found on the railway tracks early Saturday morning.
Suicide Note: Distress and Allegations
Rahul had written a suicide note stating that he was innocent and said, "I didn't embezzle ₹2.5 crore." He had also accused a senior officer of exploitation and claimed that he was being framed because he knew about the officer's alleged inappropriate relationships with women. The note further highlighted the systemic harassment he faced, which led to his tragic end.
Another Suicide Tied to the Case
This is the second suicide related to the embezzlement scam. Earlier, on 21 July, a postal superintendent, T.P. Singh, shot himself dead in Aligarh after CBI questioned him. Singh had also given a suicide note accusing numerous people of harassment and exploiting him, narrating that he was facing harassment since the day he took over the Bulandshahr post office as its superintendent in December 2021.
CBI Investigation and Its Aftermath
The CBI has been actively investigating the case of embezzlement, which had earlier conducted raids on postal offices. Rahul's suicide came a day after his interrogation by the CBI, in a similar sequence of events that led to T.P. Singh's death. Besides Rahul, other staff members, including clerks and peons, had also been suspended in connection with the case.
