DM Mistakenly Drinks Fake 'Bilseri' Water, Bulldozes Thousands of Counterfeit Bottles in Crackdown!

In a shocking incident in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh discovered that he was served a bottle of water labeled as "Bilseri" instead of the well-known "Bisleri." This discovery led to the bulldozing of thousands of fake water bottles in the district.

The incident occurred when DM Singh, along with Superintendent of Police Arpit Vijayvargiya, visited the Nivada Police Outpost after a meeting at the Tehsil Samadhan Diwas. During their visit, a water bottle was placed on the table for the officials. Upon examining the bottle, DM Singh was astonished to see the label read “Bilseri” instead of "Bisleri," a popular mineral water brand. The bottle also lacked a valid food license number, further raising suspicion.

Reacting immediately, the district magistrate ordered the Food Safety Department to investigate the matter. Assistant Food Safety Commissioner Manvendra Singh was called to the police outpost to conduct a thorough check of the water's purity and trace the source of the fake product. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the counterfeit water was being supplied from a shop in Gauripur.

The shop owner, Bhim Singh, had illegally set up a warehouse at his home to store and distribute counterfeit water bottles under names like "Bilseri," "Bislari," and "Bisalleri," all mimicking the legitimate Bisleri brand. The assistant food safety commissioner seized 2,663 fake water bottles during the raid. The bottles, which were labeled in green ink to resemble the authentic brand, were intended to deceive customers into believing they were purchasing the genuine product.

In a swift response, the authorities bulldozed all 2,663 seized bottles on-site. Furthermore, Bhim Singh was found to be operating without a valid license, prompting officials to close his warehouse immediately. Legal action has been initiated, and the court has been informed of the violations.

During questioning, Bhim Singh revealed that the counterfeit water bottles were supplied from Haryana and distributed to various shops across Baghpat district. In light of these revelations, DM Singh ordered the formation of a special team to further investigate and take strict action against the sellers of counterfeit food and beverages.

"Not only are consumers being deceived, but their health is also at risk due to the sale of fake products," DM Singh said, emphasizing the importance of cracking down on such activities. He directed the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department to inspect all establishments selling counterfeit products in the district and ensure strict enforcement against those engaging in fraudulent practices.

Additionally, DM Singh issued orders to identify vendors selling stale vegetables or adulterating condiments with colors and take appropriate action. His administration is committed to protecting consumers from counterfeit and hazardous products, ensuring that only genuine, licensed goods are sold in the market.

This crackdown serves as a strong warning to those involved in the illegal trade of counterfeit goods, highlighting the district’s resolve to safeguard public health and maintain the integrity of branded products.
