Dunki Route Deportation: 104 Indians were deported from the United States after being caught trying to enter illegally via the Dunki Route. Among them was Aakash from Kaleron village in Karnal, Haryana, whose family sold land and spent ₹72 lakh to send him to the US. However, he was arrested and sent back in handcuffs.
₹65 Lakh Paid to an Agent, ₹7 Lakh in Additional Expenses
Aakash’s family paid ₹65 lakh to an agent to help him reach the US, along with an additional ₹6-7 lakh in other expenses.
He left India 10 months ago.
On January 26, 2025, he jumped over the Mexico-US border wall to enter America but was immediately caught.
After his arrest, he was forced to sign deportation papers under the threat of legal action.
The Risky Dunki Route Journey
Aakash's family believed he would be sent directly to Mexico for an easier entry into the US. However, instead, the agent sent him on a longer, more dangerous route that included:
Multiple flights, taxis, trucks, buses, and boats.
Jungle treks and ocean crossings.
Crossing the US-Mexico border wall illegally.
His brother shared videos of the dangerous jungle paths he had to take.
Family’s Financial and Emotional Struggle
Aakash’s family is now in severe financial distress after selling their land to fund his journey.
His brother lost contact with him after January 26 and only learned of his deportation on February 7.
The family is now demanding strict action against human traffickers and illegal immigration agents to prevent others from suffering the same fate.
What is the Dunki Route?
The Dunki Route refers to illegal immigration pathways used to enter countries like the US, Canada, and Europe. It involves:
Traveling legally to Latin American countries like Brazil, Ecuador, Panama, or Mexico.
Crossing jungles, rivers, deserts, and extreme conditions to reach the Mexico-US border.
Illegally entering the US with the help of agents and traffickers.
The term "Dunki" comes from the Punjabi word meaning jumping from one place to another. The journey can take months and involves life-threatening risks, including:
Extreme weather conditions.
Hunger and disease.
Exploitation by traffickers.
Possibility of arrest, deportation, or even death.
Aakash’s case is a harsh reminder of the dangers of illegal immigration. His family is now left with a huge financial burden and emotional distress. With an increasing number of deportations, aspiring migrants must be cautious and avoid falling victim to human trafficking networks.
