DUSU Elections: The much-awaited results of the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) election came on Monday evening, with NSUI's Raunak Khatri emerging as the president of DUSU. The ABVP candidates- Bhanu Pratap and Mratrvinda, won the vice president and secretary posts, respectively, while NSUIs Lokesh took the joint secretary post.
With the the elections held on September 27, as many as over 51,000 students out of 1,45,893 eligible voters are reported to have cast their ballots. The declaration was scheduled on September 28, but was stayed in the Delhi High Court citing "pollution" caused by campaign posters and banners. The court gave its nod and declared results after imposing some strict conditions not to celebrate with victory rallies, loudspeakers, or processions.
The court had earlier directed all candidates to submit affidavits agreeing to these restrictions, warning that any violations could lead to disqualification. With four major posts contested by 21 candidates, the elections marked another chapter in the highly competitive student politics at Delhi University.
