Massive Factory Fire Rages in Bihar for 12 Hours, Goods Worth Lakhs Reduced to Ashes

A major incident unfolded in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district as a plate manufacturing factory caught fire, causing panic in the area. The blaze, which began in the Dighra area under Sadar police station limits, raged throughout the night and into the following day. Multiple fire department vehicles arrived on the scene shortly after the incident began, but despite several hours of intense efforts, the fire remained uncontrollable.

The fire broke out at midnight.

The fire incident reportedly began around midnight by a short circuit. The reports were received, and firefighters rushed to the factory; they started fighting the flames. With the help of senior officials of the fire department and JCB machines, they called in additional machines to control the fires. The residents living adjacent to the factory were kept alarmed and fearful due to the burning flames.

Concerns Over Safety Lapses: Department Fires Alarm

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Premchand, who is in-charge of the fire department, indicated that negligence on part of the factory operators may have been the reason. Preliminary investigations reveal that the factory had not undergone the required fire safety audits and proper clearances had not been obtained. Functioning in a residential neighborhood, without essential safety measures, and without a valid No Objection Certificate (NOC), might have enhanced the scale of disaster.
