Farmers protesting against three farm laws clashed with police and violated security protocols to enter the Red Fort on January 26, 2021, Republic Day.
The incident led to chaos and violence in a different part of the national capital. According to the reports, one farmer has died during the clash between police and the protestors at the ITO intersection.
“Everybody come to Red Fort,” shouted the farmers when they reached the Red Fort.
The farmers agreed to leave the Red Fort after raising their flag at the iconic Mughal-built building Red Fort. Security personnel and police who reached the spot soon after the incident successfully secured the Red Fort.
While the farmers at the Red Fort left the Red Fort shortly after discussion with the police, others were reportedly engaged in violent clashes with the security personnel at the different parts of the city. During violence at ITO, a farmer lost his life accidentally.
The farmers had agreed to take out their Tractor Rally through selected routes and after the official Republic Day parade at Rajpath. However, the violence broke out when the farmers breached security barricades and entered the national capital.
The farmers have been protesting on the outskirts of the national capital for nearly two. The administration didn’t allow them to enter the city, following which they camped outside the national capital.
