"I Don't Know": Farooq Abdullah's Shocking Response to Violence Against Hindus in Bangladesh
Bangladesh has seen the situation get worst since a reported coup that has been making the land experience continuous attacks on minority communities, most affected of which are the Hindus, and this has evoked outrage and condemnation across India. When asked about the current massacre of Hindus in Bangladesh, Farooq Abdullah said, "I haven't heard about this, I don't know anything, so I won't comment. You should ask the Prime Minister about this." His statements came when Bangladesh's interim government leader, Muhammad Yunus, had reportedly met with religious leaders to get accurate information on the attacks against minorities.
Protests Continue in Bengal
In West Bengal, Leader of Opposition and BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari led the rally by Hindu saints demanding stop attacks on temples and Hindu people of Bangladesh. It called upon global intervention by protecting minorities in the nation and claimed that the protesters will not back down until when the bloodshed stops.
Dharna at Bangladesh Embassy
Adding to the growing pressure, a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh functionary said that members of a citizens' body, that represents over 200 social and cultural organizations, would march to the Bangladesh Embassy next week. Under the banner of "Civil Society of Delhi," the march will take place on December 10, coinciding with International Human Rights Day. Protesting here, they said they want concrete measures to make sure the Hindus and minorities are safe.
