Ghaziabad Gears Up to Prevent Train Accidents: Resident Verification and CCTV Installation Near Tracks
A crucial meeting was held in Ghaziabad on Tuesday to discuss ways to prevent tampering with railway tracks, which has been a growing issue in various states across India. The meeting took place at the Ghaziabad Police Line auditorium and included high-ranking officials from the police, Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Government Railway Police (GRP).
Key Points of Discussion
The three police units (Police, GRP, and RPF) agreed to jointly conduct a survey to map vulnerabilities along railway tracks and their surrounding areas. Hotspots will be identified, and regular patrolling will be carried out. Residents living in slums and shanty towns near the tracks will undergo verification. Information regarding railway-related criminals will be shared among the police units, along with data on railway crimes and incidents from the last 10 years.
A WhatsApp group will be created for the Assistant Police Commissioners and Station Officers to share information regarding railway security. Proper checks will be conducted to ensure that existing CCTV cameras near railway stations are functioning. Additionally, new CCTV cameras will be installed in populated areas near the tracks. A joint Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for railway track security will be created by the GRP, RPF, and local police.
