A Goa court on Friday acquitted journalist Tarun Tejpal in a 2013 sexual harassment case. Soon after his acquittal, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the state government will appeal against this verdict in the High Court.
Tarun Tejpal was present in the court when the verdict was given. He later issued a statement that was read out to media persons by his daughter Tara outside the court building.
He spoke about how the past seven years have affected the family. An FIR was registered against Tarun Tejpal in November 2013.
The Goa crime branch had filed a charge sheet against him. Tejpal has been out on bail since May 2014.
The junior colleague had complained to Shoma Chaudhary about the same.
Following which Tejpal stepped down as the editor for a fair trial.
