Hindu Sena Calls for Survey of Delhi's Jama Masjid, Claims Remnants of Idols Found in Stairs
Delhi Jama Masjid: Hindu Sena National President Vishnu Gupta has written to the Director General of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), requesting a survey of the Jama Masjid in Delhi. Gupta alleges that remnants of Hindu idols are present in the stairs of the mosque, claiming that this evidence points to the destruction of temples by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
He also used Aurangzeb Nama and the book Maseer-e-Alamgiri written by Saqi Mustaq Khan for supporting his claims. He claimed that in 1689, Khan Jahan Bahadur, an officer under Aurangzeb, demolished temples in Jodhpur and Udaipur and brought broken idols to Delhi. Gupta thinks that a survey should be conducted to discover those relics and reinstall them in temples so that the cruelty of Aurangzeb and the destruction of Hindu places of worship are brought to light.
He further claimed evidence of a Hindu temple existing at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah in Rajasthan. Gupta has demanded that the site be declared as the Bhagwan Shri Sankatmochan Mahadev Virajman Mandir and called for an ASI survey to remove illegal encroachments by the Dargah committee.
