Horrific Accident in Jharkhand: A devastating road accident occurred early Thursday morning in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh district. A sleeper bus, traveling on the Kolkata-Patna route, overturned on the highway near Gorhar, a locality in Barkatha block, leaving 12 passengers dead and over 20 injured.
The accident occurred at around 6 AM when the bus lost balance and overturned. There have been screams as the bus turned upside down. Severe cases are admitted to Ranchi's RIMS while minor casualties have been treated at Barkatha health center.

Cause of the Accident

Primary investigations indicate that it was the extreme thick fog and poor visibility that severely contributed to the accident. Evidently, according to reports, the driver lost control because of the poor visibility and caused the bus to overturn.

Rescue and Police Response

Passersby on the spot launched a rescue effort and alerted the police. The authorities arrived in no time, retrieved the bodies, and cleared the road of the overturned bus.

Such an incident makes one understand the perils of traveling in bad weather. The police had requested drivers to drive with caution while taking care in particular during fogy winter mornings.
