Hyderabad Excise Department Cracks Down on Whiskey-Laced Ice Cream Racket

The Hyderabad Excise Department recently uncovered an illegal operation involving the sale of whiskey-infused ice cream. A raid was conducted at an ice cream parlor in the upscale Jubilee Hills area, leading to the arrest of several individuals connected to the racket. Sharath Chandra Reddy, who managed the parlor, was accused of mixing whiskey into the ice cream and selling it at inflated prices.

According to authorities, Reddy added approximately 60 ml of whiskey per kilogram of ice cream. During the raid, the excise team seized 23 pieces of the alcohol-laced dessert, weighing a total of 11.5 kilograms. A case has been filed against Reddy and his associates, and further investigations are underway to uncover more details of the operation.

Social Media Promotion and Arrests

In addition to Reddy, two other individuals, Dayakar Reddy and Shobhan, were also arrested. They were allegedly promoting the whiskey ice cream on social media, particularly on Facebook, in an attempt to attract more customers. Their role in advertising the illegal product is now under scrutiny, and authorities are exploring whether there were more individuals involved.

Additional Seizures in Hyderabad

In a separate operation, the Excise Department seized non-duty paid liquor valued at approximately ₹3.85 lakh from the RTC Cross Roads area in Hyderabad. Gopal Agrawal, the primary suspect in this case, was caught attempting to sell liquor illegally sourced from Chandigarh. Authorities revealed that Agrawal purchased the liquor for ₹1.32 lakh in Chandigarh and planned to sell it at a much higher price in Hyderabad, hoping to make a substantial profit.

Both cases highlight ongoing efforts by the Hyderabad Excise Department to crack down on illegal alcohol operations, with further investigations ongoing.
