IIT Baba Abhay Singh Expelled from Juna Akhara Ahead of Mahakumbh 2025
IIT Baba Abhay Singh expelled from Juna Akhara ahead of Mahakumbh 2025 for allegedly disrespecting Mahant Someshwar Puri and violating Akhara traditions.

IIT Baba Abhay Singh has been expelled from the Juna Akhara following allegations of insulting Mahant Someshwar Puri and making inappropriate statements in media. Despite being given multiple chances to reform, he continued to violate the traditions of the Akhara, leading to his removal.
Violation of Sanatan Traditions
In the Sannyas tradition, the Guru is regarded as equivalent to parents and God. Baba Abhay not only broke this sacred tradition but also betrayed his Guru's trust. His behavior, including disrespectful comments and unruly actions, was deemed a breach of Akhara's customs.
Action by Juna Akhara Leadership
Hari Giri Ji Maharaj, the chief patron of Juna Akhara, declared Baba Abhay’s removal as necessary to uphold the Akhara’s traditions. He is now barred from staying in any Juna Akhara camp or participating in its events.
Baba Abhay’s Response
IIT Baba alleged that his Guru was envious of his growing popularity and conspired to remove him from the Akhara. However, other saints claim that repeated warnings to abstain from making controversial remarks and to respect the Guru were ignored by Baba Abhay.
This incident highlights the importance of discipline and respect in the Sannyas tradition, ensuring the sanctity of the Akhara is preserved.
