India’s Covid-19 graph is once again showing an upward trend. This comes as the country reported 44,230 new coronavirus cases on Friday. The R-value indicates a spike in cases across India.
This remains the most number of cases in three weeks. Experts and the government have been warning against mass gatherings.
People are going for revenge travelling and other social gatherings as the second wave waned.
But fear of another wave of infections is still lurking, says WHO.
As per reports, R-factor indicates the speed at which COVID-19 infection spreads in the country. It has inched up in the past week. As Kerala and the Northeastern states have reported a steady rise in coronavirus cases.
Kerala accounts for more than 37 per cent of India’s active cases, as per government sources. The southern state of India continues to have an R-value around 1.11.
Moreover, the Centre has sent a team for effective COVID-19 management in the state of Kerala.
The neighbouring state of Karnataka on Thursday also recorded a steep rise in Covid cases. It reported 2,052 new cases.
According to the government estimates, 67.6 per cent of the 1.35 billion population already have antibodies against the coronavirus.
Only with a Covid-appropriate behaviour and vaccination can we decrease the R-value of cases in India.
More than 45.55 crore vaccine doses have been administered in India so far. The World Health Organisation says that the biggest numbers of Covid-19 cases were reported in the US, Brazil, Indonesia, the UK and India.
